To your left you can see Tamarack Lake below with Ralston Peak behind, but don't get too lost in the view because a misstep on the rocky trail could mean a rolled ankle. There are a lot of rocks on this trail, so it helps to have walking sticks or shoes with a decent toe buffer. When you reach the far end of the lake look back to where you started for a great view of both lakes in the distance. Beautiful hike but hella long! Walk to your right towards the break in the trees for a view of Lake Tahoe and the California-Nevada border. Itâs a long day if you really want to enjoy it. Climb to the notch on the far side of the Susie Lake and you'll quickly come to Heather Lake, and a few switchbacks later, Lake Aloha. Beautiful trail that passes several lakes. Not sure why we were told this hike would take 10 hours. If you don't take the Echo Lakes Taxi, you will see many interesting lake houses on the shores of Lower and Upper Echo Lake. Lake Aloha itself is so much fun to explore - a very mountainey lake with a wild, raw panorama. The scheduled return trip from the Las Vegas McCarran Intl Airport is at 12noon. From my point of view that is 1093.6 yards or .62 of a mile. You pass by a few lakes heading to Aloha.
